“R U OK?” Day
- Published: 9 September 2021
Let’s have a chat.
Let’s go for a walk.
Do you want to grab a coffee?
No matter how the conversation starts, there is always a way to initiate the question “are you OK?”.
Today is “R U OK?” Day! It is a nationally recognised day dedicated to reminding individuals that any day is the day to initiate and ask the question “R U OK?”. This year's focus is “are they really OK?”, and reminding everyone that “there is more to say after 'are you OK?'”.
This morning Novata Solutions hosted an internal morning tea led by Director and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Rinaldo De Paolis. The discussion focused on working in an office environment and how to identify the signs when a colleague might not be doing OK, including:
- What are they saying?
- What are they doing?
- What is going on in their life?
Followed by the four steps taken when asking someone “are you OK?”.
- Start by asking the question “Are you OK?”
- Listen with an open mind.
- Encourage action.
- Check in regularly.
Remember asking someone if they are OK is not just limited to one day, ask often and check in regularly, because you never know when someone might need to hear those three words, “Are you OK?”. Discover more about “R U OK?” Day through the link below.
