Dynamic Lock

When discussing security, many people think about cyber security and unscrupulous people trying to hack into their computers, and often overlook physical security, simple things like leaving their computers unlocked when away from it.

In the past, we had to rely on group policy or Windows + L to lock our computers, but wouldn’t it be great if your computer automatically locks itself if we just walked away from it?

Well with the new Windows 10 'Creator's Update' amongst many new features is Dynamic Lock, which does just this. But how does it know this? well the answer is by pairing your phone via Bluetooth (So it’s your phone that needs to be away from your computer not actually you).

 Enabling Dynamic Lock

Once you have installed the Windows 10 'Creator's Update' and connect your phone via Bluetooth, you need to use the steps below to enable Dynamic Lock:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click on Sign-in options.

Under Dynamic Lock, check the Allow Windows to detect when you're away and automatically lock the device option.

After finishing the steps, you should be able to pick up your phone and walk away from your computer, and after 30 seconds your computer should automatically lock (I have tested this by turning off my phones Bluetooth).
